I am convinced that somewhere in Westminster lies a pamphlet entitled: “What to shout about when you want to cause a diversion among public servants”. It reads like this:
Police: Pensions and over-time
Doctors: Egregiously high salaries and GP hours
Firefighters: Time spent asleep and in the gym
Teachers: Summer holidays...
Schools don’t lack the will. They lack the way: Incentivising excellence through market reform is a bad choice.
